Privacy policy

Welcome to Flouri. This policy explains how we handle information when you use the Flouri mobile app and visit our website at flouri.co.uk. Because Flouri is designed around privacy from the ground up, there is less to explain here than you might expect — but we have tried to be thorough.

By using Flouri, you agree to the practices described below.

Who we are

Flouri is provided by Flouri App Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 17181240. You can contact us at support@flouri.co.uk.

For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Flouri App Limited is the data controller in the limited circumstances described in this policy.

What Flouri stores on your device

When you use Flouri, the following information is stored locally on your device only:

  • The metrics you have chosen to track
  • The goals you have set for each metric
  • Your daily and weekly log entries
  • Your gratitude journal entries
  • Your streak history and any streak pauses you have set
  • Your in-app preferences and settings

This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to back it up (see the next section). We cannot see it, and we cannot access it. If you uninstall the app, this data is removed by your operating system in the usual way.

Optional cloud backup (planned)

A cloud backup feature is planned for a future version of Flouri. When available, it will let you save your data to your own iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) account. This feature will not be enabled by default and will require your explicit action to set up.

When this feature is available, your data will be stored in your personal cloud storage account and governed entirely by Apple's or Google's privacy terms, not ours. Flouri will not receive, process, or have access to any data transmitted via this route. We will be entirely outside the data chain. This policy will be updated when the feature ships.

Crash reporting (optional)

Flouri includes an optional crash reporting feature powered by Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.). This feature helps us identify and fix technical problems in the app.

Crash reporting is off by default. During onboarding you will be asked whether you would like to enable it. You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Help improve Flouri.

If you opt in, the following information may be collected when the app crashes or encounters an error:

  • A technical stack trace (the sequence of code steps that led to the crash)
  • Your device type and operating system version
  • App version number
  • A timestamp of the event

The following information is never collected, even if crash reporting is enabled:

  • Your name or any personal identifiers
  • Your goals, log entries, or journal content
  • Your gratitude journal entries
  • Your IP address (stripped before transmission)
  • Any data you have entered into the app

Crash data is processed by Sentry on our behalf as a data processor. Sentry's privacy policy is available at sentry.io/privacy. Data is held only as long as necessary to investigate and resolve the issue.

Device permissions

Flouri may request the following permissions from your device:

  • Notifications — to send you optional daily reminders to log your goals. You will be asked whether you want to enable these during onboarding; they can be turned on or off at any time in Settings → Daily reminders, or disabled entirely in your device Settings. If you enable reminders, Flouri schedules them locally on your device. The reminder text is chosen at random from a small fixed set of messages and never references your goals, log entries, journal content, or any other data you have entered. No notification content is transmitted to us.

If we add further permission requests in future updates, this section will be updated and we will let you know in-app before any new permission is requested.

In-app accessibility of this policy

This privacy policy is accessible from within the Flouri app at any time, in Settings → About → Privacy Policy.

Our website

The following applies only to visitors to our website at flouri.co.uk and does not apply to use of the app itself.

Hosting and server logs. Our website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. As with any web hosting service, Netlify automatically records standard server access logs when you visit our site. These logs may include your IP address, the pages you requested, your browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit. This information is processed by Netlify as our hosting provider and is used solely for the technical operation and security of the service. We do not access or analyse these logs ourselves unless investigating a specific technical problem. Netlify's privacy policy is available at netlify.com/privacy.

Waitlist sign-up (historical). Before Flouri launched, our website ran a short-lived waitlist. If you signed up, we collected your email address and used it solely to let you know when the app was available. We have not used these addresses for any other purpose and have not shared them with any third party. The waitlist is no longer active, but if you are still on the list and would like your email deleted, you can request that at any time by contacting us at support@flouri.co.uk.

Contact form. If you submit a message via the contact form on our website, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use this solely to respond to your enquiry. Submissions are processed via Netlify Forms and forwarded to support@flouri.co.uk. We do not use this information for any other purpose, and we do not share it with third parties.

Cookies. Our website does not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. Netlify may set strictly necessary cookies for the technical operation of the site (e.g. for form submission protection); these are not used to identify you.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time

In practice, because we hold almost no data about you, most of these rights apply to a very small set of information — a historical waitlist email address (if you signed up before launch), or contact form correspondence. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@flouri.co.uk.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know within the app before those changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent version.
